Beara GAA AGM

The annual Beara GAA AGM took place last Friday in Twomey’s Bar Castletownbere. The meeting was opened with Beara GAA President Riobard O’ Dwyer addressing the meeting and welcoming all the officers, delegates and county board officers. Chairman Jim Hanley the addressed the meeting with his Chairman’s address. The Beara GAA Secretary Shirley Murphy presented a comprehensive report on all GAA activities in Beara during the past year. Beara GAA Treasurer Aisling O’ Sullivan then presented a detailed financial report for previous 12 months. A discussion was then held on upcoming bye-laws to be adopted. The Cork county board was represented by Chairperson Tracey Kennedy and Children’s officer Des Cullinane, both of whom addressed the meeting. As all out going officers were nominated unopposed the following officers were elected for the year ahead. Chairman Jim Hanley (Bere Island), Vice Chairperson James O’ Shea (Garnish), Secretary Shirley Murphy (Glengarriff), Assistant Secretary Peter O’ Leary (Castletownbere), Treasurer Aisling O’ Sullivan (Castletownbere), Assistant Treasurer Michael Joe O’ Sullivan (Adrigole), Irish and cultural officer Sinead Whelan (Castletownbere), Development Officer Ciaran O’ Sullivan (Urhan), P.R.O Joseph Blake (Adrigole).
